Travel Pictures Gallery.com - Europe - Turkey - Pamukkale - Hierapolis
a series of travel images from Europe, Turkey - Pamukkale and Hierapolis. Pamukkale is a village in the Southern Aegean region in Denizli Province in southwestern Turkey famous for its hot springs. In the Roman era it was the spa town of Hierapolis. The slightly acidic spring water dissolves the limestone creating a bizarre landscape with terraced pools. It's a very popular site with flocks of local tourists visiting and enjoying a revitalising bath. Pamukkale- Hierapolis is a Unesco World Heritage Site. Photography by Astrid Kruiff and Willem Proos ©
