Travel Pictures Gallery.com - Thailand - Kanchanaburi, the West
a series of travel images from Thailand, Kanchanaburi Province, River Kwai, Sai Yok National Park, Sangkhlaburi, Payathonzu and Nakhon Pathom. Kanchanaburi is a city located in the west of the country at the confluence of the rivers Kwai Noi and Kwai Yai. Most visitors ar attracted to the Bridge over River Kwai and the infamous WWII Burma railway. Other places of interest are Sai Yok National park with waterfalls, jungle and trekking opportunities which are less visited than the area around Chiang Mai in the north. The remote town of Sangkhlaburi is close to Myanmar (Burma) and a visit to Three Pagodas Pass and the border town of Payathonzu is a worthwhile experience when you're not visiting Myamnar itself. On the way from Bangkok we visit Nakhon Pathom with the largest stupa in the world, the Wat Phra Pathom Chedi.
