Travel Pictures Gallery.com - Peru - the North
a series of travel images from Peru; a trip to the northern parts of the country. From the city of Trujillo we visit the Huaca del Sol and the Huaca de la Luna, adobe brick temples built by the pre-Inca Moche civilization (100 AD to 800 AD). The coastal town of Huanchaco is famous for its Caballitos, fishing boats made of Totora reed. Near Trujillo is Chan Chan, a ruïned city from the Chimu period (14-15th century AD), a Unesco World Heritage Site. Near Casma we visit the Sechin Ruins with reliefs of warriors from 1600 BC. In Huaraz we visit the Cordillera Blanca in the Peruvian Andes Mountains.
