a series of travel images from Mexico, Teotihuacan. An ancient Meso-American city, located some 40 km to the north-east of Mexico City. Teotihuacan began as a religious centre in the Mexican Highlands around the first century AD. The city was a large urban centre with a population estimated at 125.000 at its zenith which lasted approximately until 500 AD. The culture pre-dated that of the Toltecs and Aztecs who ruled central Mexico until the arrival of the Spanish. Teotihuacan is most famous for its huge pyramids; the Pyramid of the Moon and Pyramid of the Sun, it's a Unesco World Heritage site.
