Travel Pictures Gallery.com - Mexico - the North
a series of travel images from Mexico, the North. In this roadtrip we travel to parts of Mexico less visited. Starting in Patzcuaro, a town in the Lake Patzcuaro area in the state of Michoacan, west of Mexico City. A picturesque and charming place with a rural feel and the centre of the Purépecha (or Tarascans) indigenous people. Volcan Paricutin, a cinder cone volcano lies to the west of Patzcuaro. We make a hike upon its slopes with a village covered by lava in an eruption in 1943. Further west lies Guadelajara, the capital of the state of Jalisco and the second largest city in Mexico. Tlaquepaque, a part of Guadelajara has many historic buildings from the colonial area. This trip ends in Mazatlan a resort on the coast on the way to the Copper Canyon.
