a series of travel images from Lithuania, Nida, the Curonian Spit, a 98 km (61 mi) long, thin, curved sand-dune spit that separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea coast. The moving sand dunes are up to 60 metres in height, with the freshwater lagoon creating a unique bird habitat. It is a national park (Kuršių Nerija National Park) and is a Unesco World Heritage Site. The fishing village of Nida with its beaches and dunes is a popular summer holiday resort.
