With all its problems of decay and overtourism Venice is still a place full of romantic charm and character. Just wandering the narrow streets, loosing your direction in the maze of alleys or exploring the city by boat or gondola makes for an impressive experience. The Canal Grande, Rialto Bridge, Saint Mark (San Marco) Basilica and Square, the Campanile, the Bridge of Sighs, the Lido and the Doge's Palace are just a few highlights. Venice and its lagoon are a UNESCO World Heritage site.
