Florence was the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and is considered a cultural, architectural and artistic gem. It was one of the most important cities in Europe roughly between the years 1300 and 1500. Amongst the highlights for the visitor are the Dome and the Campanile Tower (by Ghiberti and Brunelleschi), the Baptiserium (Dante's death chapel), the Ponte Vecchio and Arno River, and of course, the Uffizzi Gallery (the Uffizzi Palace museum).
