a series of travel images from China, Xi'an; the Terracotta Army is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China. It is a form of funerary art buried at the same time as the emperor to protect him in the afterlife in 210–209 BCE. It is situated some 40 km to the east of Xi'an and was discovered by farmers in 1974. It is a Unesco World Heritage Site.
