With an Atlantic coastline in the North it borders French Guiana in the East, Guyana in the West and Brazil in the South. It's the smallest independent country on the South American continent with a population of just some 586.000. Most people live near the coast and the inland has verdant jungle. We explore the Voltzberg, Central Suriname Nature Reserve, the city of Paramaribo and make trips to the Marowijne (Maroni) River, Brownsberg, Lake Brokopondo, Suriname and Coppename River and Lucie River rainforest.
